Alan Hill lives and works in the Mid-Sussex village of Lindfield where cricket has been played on its picturesque common for over 200 years. He is a senior member of the Cricket Writers’ Club and a long-standing member of the MCC.

His first book on cricket – The Family Fortune was a widely praised collection of studies of the fathers, brothers and sons who have represented Sussex. Alan Hill’s other books include award-winning biographies of fellow Yorkshiremen, Hedley Verity and Herbert Sutcliffe.
