Dame Kelly Holmes

Colonel Dame Kelly Holmes is one of Britain’s most recognisable and admired athletes. She has won World, Commonwealth and European medals, and added double Olympic gold at Athens in 2004. Awarded an MBE for services to the British Army, honoured by the Queen with a Damehood, and made an Honorary Colonel in 2018 she founded the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust to engage, enable and empower young people.
She is a keen supporter of parkrun and frequently joins her local run in Tonbridge as well as participating in many others across the country. In 2017 she received the Beacon Award for Philanthropy in Sport for her work supporting young people. She supports various other charities, including Mind and Heads Together, campaigning alongside Prince Harry to raise awareness around mental health, and has been instrumental in opening up the conversation around mental health by sharing her experiences of depression and self-harm.
