Michael Calvin

Michael Calvin is one of the most acclaimed sports writers in the UK with a career stretching 30 years, having twice won both Sportswriter of the Year and Sports Commentator of the year, served for 12 years as the Chief Sportswriter for The Daily Telegraph, written for The Times, Daily Mail and Sunday Mirror and reported on six World Cup finals. He was named Sportswriter of the Year for his despatches as a crew member in a round the world yacht race, and has twice been named Sports Reporter of the Year. He is currently chief sports writer with the Independent on Sunday, and has held similar positions at the Daily Telegraph, Times and Mail on Sunday. He is also a bestselling author, whose book The Nowhere Men won the Times Sports Book of the Year prize in 2014. He became the first author to receive the award in successive years, when Proud, his collaboration with former Wales and British Lions rugby captain Gareth Thomas about his experiences coming out, was named Sports Book of the Year in 2015. He is based in Milton Keynes.
