- Horse Racing Book of the Year – Shortlisted
Simon Nott is from Tiverton in Devon, England. He has lived his life immersed in horse racing and rock n roll. He has worked with on-course bookmakers in the UK for the best part of 30 years as well as writing as a freelance music journalist.
Simon has written for fanzines, local press and national and international magazines on a freelance basis since the 1990s. 2013 saw him dive headlong into his first book Skint Mob! – Tales From The Betting Ring which recounts his time working for bookmakers and the colourful characters he met along the way.
Simon’s freelance articles on music and racing can currently be found in Big Cheese, Vive Le Rock, UK Rock N Roll and Racing Ahead in the UK. He has historically been published in The Racing Post Weekender and Inside Edge in the UK as well as Blunt and The Brag in Australia. Simon has also written a number of sleeve notes for CD releases.
Simon is still a regular character on the turf of the south of England and writes the popular ‘Tales From The Betting Ring’ blog.
